About The Position
MiraCosta College is currently accepting applications to build a pool of part-time instructors for the 2024-2025 academic year. This position is designed for individuals who may be assigned to teach courses at any of the college's campuses or authorized facilities, depending on future vacancies. The department chairperson or a designated representative will review applications only when openings arise. Instructors may be required to teach during various times, including days, evenings, and weekends, to accommodate the needs of students and the college's scheduling requirements. The college emphasizes the importance of maintaining a principal place of residence within California, specifically within 200 road miles of the assigned district worksite, to ensure efficiency and continuity in administrative functions and to provide students with high-quality assistance. For those with fully online assignments, the residency requirement is slightly relaxed, allowing for residence beyond the 200-mile limit. Compensation for this position ranges from $87.60 to $101.54 per hour, depending on the instructor's educational background. Applicants must submit a comprehensive application package, including a cover letter, resume/CV, and transcripts of all relevant degrees. The college requires that all degrees be from accredited institutions, and applicants may need to provide equivalency documentation if their qualifications do not match the specified minimum qualifications. The essential duties of the position include planning and organizing instructional materials, teaching courses in accordance with approved outlines, providing feedback and guidance to students, evaluating student performance, and maintaining accurate course records.
