The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as an Education and Employee Health Nurse at Montana State Hospital. The Education and Employee Health Nurse is an integral member of the Education and Wellness Department. This dual-function clinical position will split time evenly between both functions, providing direct services and stepping in as a fully capable backup during absences or periods of increased demand. This role does not function as an assistant for either the Nurse Educator or Employee Health Nurse positions, but as a peer-level professional supporting cross-coverage and operational continuity across both domains. This position supports MSH’s Triple S (Safe, Seen, and Supported) workplace culture, alongside clinical excellence, professional development, and staff well-being within a complex inpatient psychiatric environment. The Education and Employee Health Nurse must possess strong clinical judgment, instructional ability, and operational discipline, with a commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and interdisciplinary collaboration across multiple departments within MSH. Why Join DPHHS Our mission at DPHHS is serving Montanans in their communities to improve health, safety, well-being, and empower independence. By joining our department, you will have the opportunity to perform meaningful work in public service to our state and its residents. The State of Montana's comprehensive benefits package includes healthcare coverage, retirement plans, paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays, work/life balance, and eligibility to participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. In addition, DPHHS is the largest state agency with a wide range of advancement opportunities whether you are joining the workforce or have several years of experience.
