The Education Ambassador serves as guide to guests to provide information about exhibits, regulations, and the facility. Their job is to deliver an incredible and memorable experience to our guests through teaching them about the animals we have and interacting with them. Requirements

  • Must be at least 15 years old and permitted to work
  • Good public speaking skills & attention to detail
  • Enjoy working with the public and serving a diverse population, especially enjoy working with and speaking to children
  • Ability to work comfortably in large crowds, able to stand, stoop and crouch, spend most of the working day on your feet and walking around the exhibit floor
  • Comfortable putting hands into warm saltwater exhibits to aid guest experience and feeding demonstrations
  • Demonstrates reliability and punctuality
  • Possess a customer service-oriented demeanor
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member, and independently
  • Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings and holidays, specifically school vacation periods (December, February, April, & Summer

Responsibilities

  • Staff the education corner & public areas of aquarium exhibits to assist and answer guests' questions throughout the duration of their visit
  • Assist in daily cleaning and sanitization of exhibit floor, education area, and touch exhibits, this includes sweeping & moping the exhibit floor and break room areas, wiping down viewing surfaces, removing and putting up nets for open touch exhibits, cleaning interactive areas (draw alive table & sand box), and sanitizing frequently touched surfaces
  • Perform talks to groups of guests about the exhibits and designated ambassador animals during our various programs and assistant animal care staff with exhibit talks, these include animal spotlight events, keeper chats, exhibit feeding demonstrations, and more
  • Help create educational materials in collaboration with the Education Coordinator and Animal Care Staff
  • Assist guests with interactive animal feeding experiences with the tortoises and stingrays, give informative and clear instructions and able to physically assist when needed
  • Staff the aquarium at special after-hours events upon request and availability
  • Perform other duties as assigned
