About The Position

The EDM Machine Operator supports production within an aerospace manufacturing environment, focusing on precision machining of complex components using Electrical Discharge Machining equipment. This role is responsible for producing high-quality parts that meet strict tolerance and quality requirements while maintaining efficiency and consistency on the shop floor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of EDM machining processes, including wire and/or sinker EDM
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards such as AS9100
  • Understanding of precision measurement tools and inspection techniques
  • Knowledge of machining properties for various metals, including exotic alloys
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Effective communication across production, engineering, and quality teams
  • Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years of EDM machining experience, with wire EDM preferred
  • Experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environments required
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Candidates "must/may need" to be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
  • Successful candidates must be able to secure Program Access approval

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Makino, Sodick, or Mitsubishi EDM machines preferred
  • Experience working with exotic metals such as titanium and Inconel preferred
  • Technical training or certification in machining preferred

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate wire and/or sinker EDM machines to produce aerospace components
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements
  • Perform machine adjustments, offsets, and basic troubleshooting
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards
  • Work closely with engineering and quality teams to resolve production or quality issues
  • Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
