About The Position

The Editorial Manager will play a crucial role in shaping and refining the storytelling that aligns with the strategic goals of Arts & Sciences. This position serves as the primary editor for daily editorial content, which includes articles for the Ampersand website and weekly newsletters. The Editorial Manager will also provide essential copy editing, fact-checking, and writing support for various communications projects, including proposals, remarks, presentations, and video motion graphics. A key responsibility will be to develop and maintain a style guide for Arts & Sciences Marketing & Communications, ensuring that all communications are consistent across different platforms. Collaboration is a significant aspect of this role, as the Editorial Manager will work closely with a diverse and talented team of marketing and communications professionals. Additionally, this position may involve supervising student interns and freelance writers. In terms of daily responsibilities, the Editorial Manager will edit and oversee the production of editorial content and newsletters, ensuring clarity, engagement, and accuracy. This includes creating SEO-optimized headlines, subheads, captions, and teaser text, as well as managing the distribution of the weekly Ampersand newsletter. The Editorial Manager will also coach staff writers in translating complex academic research into compelling narratives for a general audience. Furthermore, the role requires providing writing and editing support to the A&S MarComm Team and academic departments, ensuring adherence to established style and brand guidelines. The Editorial Manager will also be responsible for maintaining production calendars to keep editorial projects on track and will serve as a liaison between Arts & Sciences and editorial colleagues in University Marketing & Communications. Overall, the Editorial Manager is expected to perform a variety of editorial tasks, maintain high standards of quality, and contribute to the overall mission of the Arts & Sciences division. This position is essential for ensuring that the communications produced are not only accurate and engaging but also reflect the values and goals of the institution.
