About The Position

Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (MSG Sports) is a leading professional sports company, with a collection of assets that includes the New York Knicks (NBA) and the New York Rangers (NHL), as well as two development league teams – the Westchester Knicks (NBAGL) and the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL). MSG Sports also operates a professional sports team performance center – the MSG Training Center in Greenburgh, NY. More information is available at www.msgsports.com. The Editor will be responsible for creating video content, both long and short form, to support various MSG company initiatives. This role will have a focus in executing the full post production process including, but not limited to, editing video, story editing, media management, logging and maintaining content archives, selecting stock footage, building text animations and some motion graphics as needed, audio editing, sound design, color correcting, exporting multiple formats for social, compressing and resizing files, and captioning.

Requirements

  • 5+ year’s experience working as a video editor in advertising, social, branded content, in a production company or long form documentary
  • Proficient with editing software's such as: Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition) and Davinci Resolve
  • Demonstrated experience in all phases of post-production –media management, project set up, story editing, color correction and grading, and audio mastering.
  • Basic understanding of video format and codecs
  • Attention to detail and time management
  • Collaborate and communicate efficiently with all team members
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of story telling
  • Working knowledge of various cameras, equipment, and shooting techniques

  • Motion graphics capabilities is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assemble long- and short-form video content to support Brand, Communications, and Corporate initiatives under the supervision and direction of the Senior Editor or management.
  • Ingest, organize, log, and clean up footage from shoots to prepare for editing.
  • Archive all projects and components on appropriate servers to ensure easy future access.
  • Collaborate with Producers and the Production Manager to understand the intended messaging and objectives of each project.
  • Make creative recommendations and audition music, graphics, and effects within the edit.
  • Export, reformat, and perform quality checks to ensure all deliverables meet required specifications; archive all raw footage and project files as needed.
  • Update existing edits as needed, including copy changes, cut-downs, and content updates.
  • Stay up to date on the latest editing techniques, trends, and industry standards.
