About The Position

The incumbent serves as Page Layout Copy Editor (Central Operations) for the page layout, design and copy editing of Stars and Stripes publications. This position is located at Stars and Stripes Central in Washington, D.C. The role involves substantive editing for news, sports, and/or feature pages and sections, including final proofreading and editing of articles to correct any spelling, typographical or grammatical errors, or to discover or estimate editorial problems involved. The editor will design and lay out assigned pages and sections in an electronic publishing system, ensuring all text is free of errors and that headlines and cutlines accurately reflect the content of the story or photo. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

• Three years of specialized work experience directly related to the duties described.
• Demonstrated work experience must include 1 year equivalent in complexity and difficulty to the next lower pay band level.
• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks.
