About The Position

The Editor at BOOM! Studios is responsible for overseeing the creative process and execution of comic book and graphic novel projects. This role involves acquiring new projects, managing schedules, and ensuring high-quality content is produced on time. The Editor will collaborate with various teams, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong relationships with talent and partners, all while focusing on the commercial and critical success of the projects.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years' experience in comic book and graphic novel editing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under deadlines.
  • Strong initiative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with other departments.
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills to inform creative decisions.
  • Superb organizational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Asana.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire new projects and develop existing ones for the BOOM! Studios imprint.
  • Act as the project manager and primary point of contact for scheduling, communication, and creative development.
  • Negotiate contracts for new projects being acquired.
  • Identify and contract new talent while retaining high performers.
  • Collaborate on go-to-market strategies and run development meetings.
  • Work closely with production design on branding and packaging.
  • Provide and enforce deadlines for talent on editorial production.
  • Support sales, marketing, and metadata teams by providing necessary assets.
  • Manage creator and licensor approvals on production assets.
  • Distribute periodic updates, reports, and presentations.
