About The Position

The EDI Specialist (Human Resource Consultant 4) at the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) plays a crucial role in promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within the agency. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, sociology, psychology, training, organizational development, or a related field.
  • 4 years of experience working with systemically marginalized communities.
  • Experience facilitating trainings related to identity, oppression, and equity.
  • Program management experience, including leading and managing multiple complex projects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in counseling, psychology, social work, instructional technology and training, education policy and leadership, or organizational development.
  • Specialized certifications in EDI or advanced training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level guidance and consultation on EDI objectives.
  • Advise the Equity Director on the development and implementation of UTC EDI strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Partner with the Human Resources Division on EDI-related projects to remove unintentional barriers.
  • Work with agency leadership to embed EDI principles into services, policies, and processes.
  • Facilitate internal trainings and develop curriculum and presentation materials.
  • Support internal Employee Resource Groups and statewide Business Resource Groups.
  • Steward a strategic PEAR Team to inform agency decision-making through an EDI lens.
  • Assist and guide lower-level staff on specific work projects or tasks.
  • Support the implementation of EDI strategies across the agency.
  • Serve on internal workgroups and multidisciplinary projects related to EDI and community engagement.
