About The Position

Adventist Health Bakersfield, established in 1910, is a 254-bed acute care hospital with 20 primary and specialty care medical offices. Located in Bakersfield, California, the organization provides world-class physicians, medical technology, and caring professionals. The ED Technician assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations, and treatments. This role involves performing a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of an RN and also includes essential functions of a Unit Secretary.

Requirements

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification
• Phlebotomist Technician license

Responsibilities

• Assists the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments.
• Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
• Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position.
• Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
• Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care.
• Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider.
• Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
• Records and collects specimens.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
