ED Technician, Reedley, Full Time, 12-Hour Variable Shift
About The Position
Lying just inland between the State's coastal mountain ranges and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Adventist Health Reedley has been serving the Central Valley since 2011. We are comprised of a 49-bed acute care hospital and 60 clinics in 27 rural communities with primary and specialty care services. Reedley is a perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts as it is located in the central San Joaquin Valley portion of California, close to Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. In addition to the beautiful landscape, it also offers a great cost of living and close-knit communities. Job Summary: Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.
Requirements
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Emergency Medical Tech (NEMT) or Paramedic (PM): Required
Nice To Haves
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
- Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred
Responsibilities
- Assists the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments.
- Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
- Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position.
- Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care.
- Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider.
- Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
- Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
- Records and collects specimens.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
