About The Position

ED Technician II Full-time / Day-shift (three 12/hr shifts per week; 7:30a-8p; rotating weekends required) UM Capital Region Health - Largo, MD P OSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of a licensed nurse and/or physician, assists in the care of patients by performing triage, registration, basic lab tests, EKG’s and related routine, non-professional nursing care. Requires High School diploma or equivalent and CNA certification.

Requirements

  • Current Maryland certification in good standing as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Life Support Certification: Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
  • Education/Knowledge Attained Level: Entry level
  • Required: 1 - 3 years experience in patient care, EMT, Paramedic, Military Corpsman or closely related field, preferably in an Emergency Care environment.
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic knowledge and working experience with Medical Terminology

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe, effective, timely, and efficient patient care to assigned patients under supervision of licensed nurse.
  • Documentation
  • Places and receives telephone calls related to patient care needs, assembles/stamps charts, prepares discharge charts, prepares requisitions, transcribes physician’s orders and retrieves and enters information on the computer.
  • Supplies and Equipment
  • Participates in Unit-based quality assessment/improvement activities and staff meetings. Makes realistic suggestions for improvement to enhance Unit function.
