About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides patient care as assigned and per routine, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures. Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner Documents care provided according to standards Maintains a clean work and patient environment Maintains supplies, stocking new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies. Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner. Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff. Directs visitors to patient's rooms. Maintains medical records of current patients. Processes patient charges and orders supplies as needed. Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities. Performs 12 Lead EKGs as directed Starts IV as directed Performs venipunctures as directed Assists ED MDs with intubation by gathering needed equipment Performs CPR and places the Lucas on patients during resuscitations Performs splint applications Assist with chest tube insertions by gathering needed supplies equipment Performs BGMs as directed Transports non-monitored patients to the inpatient units EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of a CNA program or Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a postsecondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education or Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician program or Graduate of a Paramedic program.

Requirements

  • Completion of a CNA program or Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a postsecondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education or Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician program or Graduate of a Paramedic program.
  • Certified as a Nursing Assistant in applicable state, or Certified as a Medical Assistant through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or RMA certification through the AMT (American Medical Technologists) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) through NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or RMA through AAH (American Allied Health) or NCMA Certification through the NCCT that have also completed the education requirements. or Licensed as an EMT-B or EMT-A in applicable state, or Licensed as a Paramedic in applicable state.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days
