Located on a beautifully landscaped 27-acre medical campus at 19339 Benn’s Grant Boulevard in Smithfield , the new hospital will provide modern facilities and comprehensive medical services to meet the growing needs of the community. The 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility will offer a range of essential healthcare services including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 38 Medical/Surgical beds, 12 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 4 Operating Rooms. We anticipate start dates to begins Fall, 2025. Overview Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, and the medical direction of the Emergency Department Physician. Responsible for providing assistance to physicians and RN in the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Collects data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide. Emergency Technician will fill in as the monitor tech as needed.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
1 year Emergency Technician Experience (PRN Status Only) (Required)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Advanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic ONLY Upon Hire(Required)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Advanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic ONLY Upon Hire(Required)
Military Experience - US Military Equivalent military experience in lieu of EMT certification will be accepted (i.e., medical technician or corpsman) Upon Hire(Required)
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)

Responsibilities

Demonstrates assessment ability by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served. ( i.e. surgical, med surg, critical care, ED, specialty unit).
Recognizes and responds to variances of patient care/ condition and appropriately notifies physician and team, utilizing SBAR process when applicable.
Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per RHS standards.
Demonstrate flexibility and sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput throughout the facility.
Responds to patient needs timely.
Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations served within the community. Works to link needs of patient population with community resource.
Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks to facilitate quality patient care and ensure all patient care needs are met.
Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations.
Monitor/supports personal departmental productivity through volunteering for and recommending creative changes to include flexing and shift changes to meet the needs of the department.
