About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician performs a variety of functions in support of patient care under close/general supervision by licensed team members (RN, APC, or physician). The role is designed to optimize patient care through technical support and effective communication with licensed team members. The technician is responsible for reporting on the condition of patients, completing documentation, reinforcing patient education, assisting with patient transport, and maintaining a safe environment by cleaning equipment and stocking supplies.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• One year applicable healthcare experience.
• State of Wisconsin EMT-B certification.
• State of Wisconsin CNA Certification or current nursing student.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Receives direction and assignments from licensed team members and provides technical support to optimize patient care.
• Reports on the condition of the patient to the appropriate licensed team members to ensure safe, quality patient care.
• Completes documentation based on procedures and care provided to ensure an accurate and complete medical record.
• Reinforces patient education under the direction of licensed team members to ensure the continuum of care.
• Assists with patient transport to other departments as appropriate.
• Assists in maintaining a safe environment by cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, and turning over rooms as required.
