The position reports to the Nursing Manager and involves assisting patients with activities of daily living as delegated by the RN. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, keeping the nurse informed of any changes in patient information, and ensuring exceptional patient experience by upholding the values of respect, trust, integrity, and compassion.   • Assist patients with performing activities of daily living when delegated by RN.
  • Obtain vital signs on patients and report to assigned nurse.
  • Keep the nurse up to date on any changes in patient information.
  • Represent the hospital in a compassionate and caring manner.
  • Smile and greet all customers who present for care.
  • Answer telephone in a courteous manner.
  • Maintain contact with patients waiting for care.
  • Act as a liaison between patient/family and physicians/staff.
  • Attend and participate in workshops and unit meetings.
  • Educate and orient students and new personnel.
  • Report all unusual occurrences to the triage nurse.
  • Promote safety and security measures.
  • Communicate complete and accurate information to co-workers and physicians.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and self.
  • Perform splint application, cast cutting, administer enemas, and perform wound care as directed.
  • Obtain 12-lead EKGs and connect patients to cardiac monitors.
  • Take and record vital signs and collect specimens appropriately.
  • Perform set up for various medical procedures.
  • Follow infection prevention policy at all times.
  • Assist nurse/physician with other procedures as directed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Current CPR certification and maintenance of certification.
  • Experience in the Emergency Department or related healthcare experience preferred.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong team player who receives delegation readily.
