As an ED Tech, you will provide crucial support and direct patient care in the fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate assistance during critical moments. Your daily tasks will include assisting with patient admissions and discharges, performing vital signs and basic medical procedures, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and meticulously documenting observations to support the nursing staff and physician team. Success in this role requires outstanding adaptability, strong communication skills, and a calm, proactive demeanor, contributing significantly to timely patient care and a smooth-running ED.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of Emergency Medical Technician program, upon hire
  • Acute care and clinical secretary experience
  • Completion of approved Unit Clerk class or equivalent, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Certified Nursing Assistant: CA, upon hire or Emergency Medical Technician: CA, upon hire or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic: CA, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Provide crucial support and direct patient care in the fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate assistance during critical moments
  • Assist with patient admissions and discharges
  • Perform vital signs and basic medical procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment
  • Meticulously document observations to support the nursing staff and physician team
  • Consistently, accurately & timely transcribe physician orders with 100% accuracy as the goal
  • Correctly transcribe orders in EHR system, and sign off orders per FHMC policy
  • Correctly transcribe orders during downtime procedures
  • Notify appropriate staff of medication and treatment orders
  • Consistently, accurately & timely place patient stickers on patient charts, fax orders to pharmacy, send charts to medical records after discharge & add chart forms as needed
  • Consistently, accurately & timely file chart forms, duplicate medical records as needed, order supplies & initiate follow-through with maintenance requests
