A clerical or secretarial person, who under the direct supervision of the ED leadership, performs duties and functions of a clerical and/or secretarial nature for the Emergency Department under Nursing Administration. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma required, Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum of one year experience as an Administrative Assistant in a service industry. Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Power Point and document management. Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to deal with the customers in a pleasant and efficient manner.
  • Must possess good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and display good judgmental qualities.
  • Ability to professionally compose letters, memos, reports, etc.
  • Required Certification/Registration: N/A
  • Position will primarily be light work requiring lifting up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting/ or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching are required. Position requires 80% sitting and 20% standing or walking. Expressing and exchanging ideas by spoken work is required.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
