PURPOSE STATEMENT A staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional RN who directs and/or provides nursing care, within the Emergency Department (ED), for patients with chronic, acute and/or terminal illnesses. The RN will be responsible for triaging patients to determine priority of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the department. Communicates with the ED provider regarding changes in patient status, symptoms, and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Participation includes interdisciplinary team, committees, education and the supervision of other staff/students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrate appropriate assessment and knowledge of critically ill patients. Assist providers with procedures such as but not limited to: conscious sedation, central lines, rapid sequence intubation etc. Implement patient care according to planned interventions to attain the patient’s optimal level of function and documents according to policy. Provide positive customer service relations. Routinely participates in Quality Improvement projects and encourages the department to continuously improve. Assist co-workers as needed/requested. Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Expected to serve as sitters as needed, following the successful completion of designated sitter education and training provided. Perform other essential duties as assigned. SHIFT REQUIREMENTS 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. 3, 12-hour shifts per week
