About The Position

The ED Registered Nurse - New Grad Residency position at Nemours is designed for recent nursing graduates seeking to develop their skills in a critical care environment. This full-time role involves a comprehensive 12-month residency program that includes a 6-month precepted clinical experience followed by 6 months of didactic support. The program aims to equip new nurses with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care to pediatric patients with complex medical and surgical needs.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN required.
• Must have a GPA of 3.25 or higher; transcript will be required at the time of interview.
• Active Delaware single state or compact nursing license based on state residency.
• Must have BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Previous experience in pediatric/ICU and/or critical care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and document initial and ongoing needs for children with complex medical and surgical needs.
• Utilize critical thinking to formulate nursing plans based on patients' complex needs and problems.
• Develop realistic and appropriate long- and short-term goals based on patient/family needs.
• Implement patient care plans for patients and families with critical and complex needs.
• Evaluate the patient's and family's response to care and modify care plans accordingly.
• Assist patients and families in discharge planning to anticipate and meet care needs.
• Advocate for patients and families while collaborating with other healthcare team members.
• Provide safe and appropriate nursing care in adherence to Nursing Department standards.
