About The Position

The Nurse Graduate works under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager or the appointed Charge Nurse for the assigned area. The Graduate Nurse is a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, but has not received licensure.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma AND documentation from an Accredited School of Nursing confirming graduation eligibility (ASN/ADN or BSN) and transcript release date must be provided.
  • Degree or official transcripts from an Accredited School of Nursing, confirming graduation, required within 60 days from date of hire/transfer.
  • Graduate Nurse Letter from the Florida Board of Nurses Authorization to test by the examination vendor
  • Must obtain License to practice nursing in the state of Florida within 90 days graduation from an Accredited Nursing Program
  • BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas.
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association is required at hire or transfer for departments including Emergency Department Admin (710103) and Emergency Department North (713280).
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer for departments including Emergency Department (713200).
  • PALS from the American Heart Association is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer for departments including Emergency Department (713200), Emergency Department Admin (710103), and Emergency Department North (713280).
  • NRP is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer for departments including Emergency Department (713200), Emergency Department Admin (710103), and Emergency Department North (713280).
  • Graduate Nurse's entering a fellowship must obtain their ACLS, PALS and NRP within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute training within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer into the position, and then annually, is required for Psych Unit.
  • Less than one year experience.
  • Completion of an Accredited Nursing Program.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Agency Standards (e.g., JCAHO, HRS), nursing Standards and Florida Nurse Practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a beginning practitioner, basic management skills and ability to serve as a resource for the nursing process.
  • Understanding medical terminology.
