EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE: 1. Education: Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college required. Bachelors in Nursing preferred. 2. Licenses: Current unrestricted Colorado license in good standing 3. Certifications: Current BLS upon hire. ACLS and PALS within 3 months of hire; TNCC within 6 months of hire. 4. Experience: 5 years of acute care Nursing experience required. ED Nursing experience preferred. REQUIRED SCREENINGS: 1. Drug Screen 2. Physical Assessment 3. Tuberculosis screen 4. Background check (Criminal, Civil, Educational, Previous Employment, etc.) 5. Driver Record screen (positions requiring on-the-job driving) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day. Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate. Serves as a point of contact for staff for any clinical issues that may arise and utilize critical thinking skills to work through issues and report to providers, and department director/manager when appropriate. Assess and document the acuity of care required for the patients of the Inpatient Unit. Conduct and lead bi-weekly nursing rounds in the Inpatient Unit. Serve as the Inpatient Nursing liaison for the Interdisciplinary Team (‘IDT’) meetings. Assistance with admissions/discharges, timely and safe medication delivery, call light response time, identifying and assessing readiness for next day’s admissions/discharges. Assisting with patient movement and throughput as appropriate. Actively rounds through the Inpatient Unit, ED, and PACU area hourly to monitors conditions and throughput in order to establish priorities and assist in problem solving to address issues that arise. Responds to all trauma activations and emergency situations (i.e. Code Blue). Actively participates in at least one nursing committee. Demonstrates knowledge of evidence-based practice within the Inpatient Unit and identifies opportunities for performance improvement. Ensures beds are being utilized appropriately and accepting patients to maximize bed potential and meet daily census goals. GENERAL DUTIES: Assist clinical staff with the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Maintain a positive, compassionate, gossip-free work environment. Ensure clinical staff have had an opportunity to take a full 30-minute lunch. Responsible for conducting random medical chart audits to identify areas of improvement in patient care. Oversees crash cart checks and appropriate documentation. Checks expirations monthly. Serves as an ambassador for the Service Excellence initiative. Works independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude. Ensures end of shift medication counts are performed. Attends meetings as assigned. Serves as an Inpatient EMR “Super User.” Other job duties as assigned.
