Job Summary The Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Test Engineer will be responsible for validating PACCAR Electronics–developed ECU software through HIL testing. This role partners closely with product development teams to drive software quality, enhance test coverage, and deliver reliable systems that meet program schedules, budget targets, and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 1+ years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, managing multiple projects and adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, including internationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle system design and release, or hands-on experience in software testing and validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar structured methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Automotive SPICE (Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination) processes.
  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain test plans and test cases to ensure full requirements coverage and high-quality software validation.
  • Plan and manage testing activities within assigned domains, tracking progress and reporting status to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including software development, electrical engineering, control system development, IT, and test engineering—to troubleshoot issues and ensure seamless integration.
  • Continuously enhance testing processes by increasing automation, improving test efficiency, and implementing best practices for quality assurance.
