About The Position

Implement preschool curriculum as aligned with Individual Educational Programs (IEPs) using evidence based instructional materials and strategies which are developmentally appropriate for students 2.5 to 5 years of age. Collaborate with related service providers and parents to plan and implement accommodations to meet the individual student needs within the school and community settings. Establish and maintain classroom management skills conducive to a positive, productive, and orderly classroom environment. Monitor each student’s progress toward IEP goals and objectives. Maintain compliance with federal and state timelines and requirements. Remain knowledgeable of educational standards and strategies to meet the academic, developmental, and social emotional needs of students. Participate as a special education evaluation team member. Assess and modify instructional practice to increase student communication, socialization, and pre-academic readiness skills. Utilize educational technology to support student instruction and learning. Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, peers, parents, and community.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate
  • Required Endorsements: Early Childhood General and Special Education (ZN) Early Childhood PK-General and Special Education (ZS)
  • A major/ minor in Early Childhood Education or Child Growth & Development and a fully approved special education endorsement.
