The W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research is seeking a full-time Economist in Kalamazoo, MI. The role involves conducting research and preparing reports and analyses on various economic issues. The Economist will direct research projects focused on the causes and effects of unemployment and measure its alleviation. Responsibilities include constructing and testing methods of data collection, interpreting data through observation, interviews, surveys, and secondary data reviews, including literature searches. The position requires analyzing and evaluating data and information, consistently producing academic or policy-related research suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals, conference volumes, book chapters, technical reports, or other appropriate sources. The Economist will also present papers and participate in professional meetings and conferences, serve on the Institute Grant Committee to review and approve funding of grants, act as a Grant Monitor, and provide consulting services to outside professional groups, agencies, governmental units, and businesses.
