Position Overview: The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that fights for equity for all women and families. We’re passionate about making change on big issues such as equal pay for all women, paid leave for working families and access to affordable health care that provides abortion and reproductive care. We advocate on the Hill and for federal, state and local policy. Economic Justice Program Associate We are seeking an Economic Justice Program Associate to support the team in furthering the National Partnership’s policy goals by supporting coalition engagement and updating partner organizations on advancements in paid family and medical leave and paid sick leave, assisting with policy and factual research, monitoring news and tracking press clips, maintaining and updating databases, and supporting scheduling and expenses to the Economic Justice team. The Economic Justice Program Associate Position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Vice President for Economic Justice. The National Partnership is a hybrid organization where staff are required to report to the office a minimum four (4) days a month.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of relevant experience supporting ongoing projects or processes in a nonprofit, advocacy, academic, or mission driven environment. Experience should involve coordinating tasks, tracking deadlines, or maintaining organized information.
- Comfort in a coordination role that supports team priorities and follows direction from their manager and project leads, with an understanding that this position is not a strategic or managerial role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Experience providing program coordination or operational support, including coordinating schedules, managing communications, tracking project progress, and ensuring smooth logistical and administrative support.
- Highly attentive to detail in written documents and when supporting meetings and events.
- Extremely well organized with the ability to multitask and work independently and collaboratively to meet weekly, monthly, and quarterly deadlines.
- Comfortable with shifting between administrative tasks and time-sensitive coordination.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication, relationship building, and ability to collaborate with diverse individuals and groups.
- Takes ownership of accuracy, follow-through, and reliability.
- Understanding of racial and gender justice concepts and commitment to centering them in work projects and interactions (both internal and external) by addressing structural implications and disproportionate impacts of policies and institutions on historically oppressed groups.
Nice To Haves
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Asana is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Compile and distribute the weekly paid leave newsletter, ensuring timely content collection and accurate formatting.
- Track Economic Justice projects and maintain organized files.
- Submit and track invoices, expense reports, and other administrative documents for the team.
- Coordinate logistics for the National Work and Family Coalition, including scheduling bi-monthly meetings, preparing the agenda, and capturing follow-up actions.
- Support fact-checking of reports, issue briefs, and external materials.
- Handles additional scheduling responsibilities for other program meetings and activities.
- Monitor news and legislative updates relevant to the Economic Justice projects.
- Assist with maintaining policy materials, data sources, and coalition information.
- Work with the Communications team to ensure Economic Justice content on the organization’s web pages contain current and accurate information.
- Help draft or edit meeting materials, presentations, and partner communications as needed.
- Provide administrative support for other team events or special projects.
- Document and improve departmental processes.
