The Economic Development Coordinator will launch and oversee the county's Main Street program and work on the revitalization of the major commercial corridors throughout the county. The position will also work on business retention and outreach activities for exisiting businesses in Orange County. This position will work closedly with the Main Street non-profit boards, PEDS and outside agencies such as ULI and NAIOP. The position will be heavily involved in marketing Orange County parcels of land to site selectors, and businesses looking to expand that are in Orange County's targeted industries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning, Real Estate or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the areas of economic development; community outreach; commercial revitalization and redevelopment; real estate development; or finance, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A working knowledge of the Main Street Program and the Four Points Approach.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Performs highly responsible executive and administrative work directing all work relating to the Orange County Main Street Program.
  • Responsibilities include professional presentations and partnership development, program development and facilitates strategic planning for the Main Street Program.
  • Develops a work plan, budget, training and technical assistance programming, marketing and promotional activities for the Main Street Districts.
  • Oversees the activities of the Main Street nonprofit Board of Directors, volunteers and staff.
  • Responsible for proactive and strategic economic development activities related to the redevelopment and revitalization of the County's commercial corridors.
  • Assess the commercial corridor needs; conducts strategic planning for the commercial corridors; interface with existing business operators and property owners.
  • Develop and facilitate programs to enhance, revitalize, redevelop and strengthen the County's commercial tax base. Works with PEDS on developing and implementation of an overall commercial corridor improvement strategy that includes innovative zoning and land use initiatives.
  • Assists business owners, investors and developers looking to launch, expand, or invest in Orange County.
  • Fosters relationships with community and economic development partners.
  • May serve on boards and committees for local economic development organizations and partners.
  • May represent the County at appropriate business and community activities and events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
