The City of Georgetown’s Economic Development Department is seeking a motivated intern to support a variety of economic development initiatives focused on entrepreneurship, business growth, and community development. This internship offers hands-on experience in local economic development, with a focus on supporting a quarterly entrepreneur and innovation programming initiative. The selected candidate will assist with planning, coordination, and execution of events, including logistics, outreach, and program support. Applicants are required to attach a resume. This is an unpaid, in-person internship. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: The Economic Development Intern will gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of the department, including: Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) visits Workforce development programs Business recruitment and prospect engagement Collaboration with other City departments This role provides a unique opportunity to learn how municipal government operates and how economic development strategies are implemented at the local level.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or have graduated within the past six (6) months.
  • The ideal candidate is a current college student majoring in economic development, business, public administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn
