About The Position

Join the East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) as an Economic & Community Development Specialist and play a key role in supporting regional environmental, community, and economic development initiatives. In this dynamic position, you'll help bring projects to life by supporting grant development and administration, conducting research and analysis, and collaborating with local governments, partners, and stakeholders to strengthen communities across the region. From advancing infrastructure and environmental programs to supporting community and economic development efforts, this role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of impactful projects. You'll help manage grant-funded programs, support planning and compliance efforts, engage with communities, and identify new funding opportunities, all while contributing to initiatives that enhance quality of life and drive regional growth. Join our team and help support meaningful projects that strengthen communities, advance environmental initiatives, and drive economic growth across East Texas! East Texas Council of Governments is a voluntary association of counties, cities, school districts and special districts within the fourteen-county East Texas region. We assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit and coordinating for sound regional development. Either directly, or through our contractors, ETCOG provides programs and services for East Texas seniors, employers and job seekers. We also build the 9-1-1 emergency call delivery system, provide peace officer training and homeland security planning services; and deliver rural transportation services, business finance programs, grant writing services and environmental grant funding for the region.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • minimum of three (3) years related experience in economic development, community development, or regional planning required

Nice To Haves

  • bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related field of study preferred
  • familiarity with environmental programs and experience with grant writing, research and administration, and management of state or government programs is strongly preferred
  • combinations of education and experience may be considered
