This position is in the Development Research Branch (DRB) of the Economic Analysis and Policy Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). The Division is mandated to provide strategic and policy support to Member States in the areas of economic and development policies. The Economics Affairs Officer will report to the Senior Economic Affairs Officer in the Development Research Branch. The role involves conducting economic or sector analysis, developing and maintaining socio-economic databases, and interpreting trends using econometric/statistical methods. The officer will draft inputs for technical papers and analytical studies on sustainable development, assist in organizing expert group meetings, and prepare research-based inputs for publications. Additionally, the officer will support intergovernmental processes by preparing inputs for reports and organizing panels on development issues. The position also includes participating in missions, preparing learning materials, and contributing to technical cooperation projects. The officer is expected to perform various administrative tasks necessary for the delivery of the work unit's services and undertake training activities as required.
