About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Ecology & Permitting Project Manager to join our Environmental Team in Albany, NY . In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary environmental projects, partner closely with public and private clients, and help navigate ecological assessments and environmental permitting processes that support resilient ecosystems and responsible development. This is an opportunity to oversee impactful work that safeguards natural resources while advancing projects across various markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, science, planning, engineering management, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 7 years of industry experience required; minimum of 4 years of project management experience required
  • Demonstrated experience managing client relationships, understanding contract requirements, and overseeing multiple concurrent projects
  • Experience preparing proposals, project plans, extra work authorizations and project closeout documents for projects required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required; knowledge of MS Project, Primavera P6, or Deltek Vision preferred
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, project financial management, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel as needed and work collaboratively with technical teams

Nice To Haves

  • Consulting experience preferred
  • PMP, PE or equivalent professional license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee every phase of environmental, ecology, and permitting projects—from planning through implementation—ensuring quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding project goals and delivering practical, environmentally responsible solutions
  • Manage contracts, purchase orders, project documentation, and ongoing coordination with clients, regulators, and subcontractors
  • Take charge of project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash management, while ensuring timely payments and accurate reporting
  • Lead monthly project review meetings, communicating progress and updates to clients, management, and project teams
  • Develop and implement health and safety plans, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, quality standards, and permitting requirements
  • Embrace a “seller/doer” mindset, actively developing new business opportunities and expanding environmental services provided
