About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced Ecologist (Ecologist II) to join and support our Environmental Permitting and Planning group within our Environment business line. This hybrid role can be based in our Houston, TX office. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented environment. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while working with a team comprised of a variety of staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients, including natural gas, electric utilities, and renewables. AECOM’s Impact Assessment and Permitting group conducts a variety of projects including impact assessments, environmental field assessments, environmental regulatory permitting, utility siting and licensing, environmental inspection, and many others. This position will predominantly involve task-based assignments. Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel for field work. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (biology, ecology, or project management/controls).
  • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in natural resources pertaining to wetland and report writing.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of data collection, data review, and preparation of scientific documents including wetland delineations, stream assessments, technical reports, Section 401/404 permitting and mitigation requirements.
  • Technical writing experience specifically about authoring siting studies, and/or FERC resource reports, and/or NEPA analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of wetland delineations, stream assessments, and regulatory requirements (e.g., federal and state Endangered Species Acts, Clean Water Act).
  • Experience with use of ArcGIS
  • Experience with conducting botany, wildlife, and avian identification.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting on wetland, stream, and wildlife habitat assessments, botanical surveys, and listed species surveys.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical documents and permit applications.
