Position Summary: The Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated research assistant(s) to temporarily support multiple ongoing and upcoming projects. The potential projects that the research assistant(s) will support are varied but may include: organizing, sorting and preparing vegetation samples for nutrient analysis, organizing associated data in spreadsheets, and conducting literature review on bighorn sheep forage behavior and preference. The research assistant(s) will be responsible for a range of duties that may include: preparing vegetation samples for nutrient testing by sorting, combing, mixing, grinding, packaging and shipping samples, organizing and entering testing results, conducting projectspecific literature reviews and summaries; and drafting and editing documentation and communication materials. The work accomplished in this position provides an essential basis for research conclusions and management recommendations. The quality of the work directly affects the quality and accuracy of final research findings and recommendations. Unit Description: The NREL is a research and teaching unit at Colorado State University with a mission “to ensure the sustainability of the Earth’s ecosystems through the generation and application of new knowledge.” The department’s interdisciplinary, ecosystem research promotes collaborations among disciplines and across fields of expertise at CSU and throughout the world. As a soft-money research unit, this role is critical to ensure adequate funding to sustain its vital role in the research community both locally and across the globe.
