About The Position

Cardiovascular perfusionists are responsible for operating extracorporeal circulation equipment, such as the heart-lung machine, during an open-heart surgery or any other medical procedure in which it is necessary to artificially support or temporarily replace a patient's circulatory or respiratory function. Requires in-depth conceptual and working knowledge acquired through deep experience in a particular job discipline. May also require familiarity in related disciplines and specialties. May lead projects of manageable risk or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives. Commonly executes a wide range of complex and difficult tasks, requiring minimal guidance or supervision. Applies new perspectives to existing solutions. Serves as a key resource for colleagues. Careers may stabilize at this level for many years or until retirement.
