ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE: Want to play a key role in launching Neighborhood Healthcare's new cardiology services? Join us as we build this critical service from the ground up! The Echocardiography Technologist will perform all types of echocardiography testing. This role will assist physicians deliver safe and age-appropriate patient care during testing in the echocardiography lab. Additionally, this role will work collaboratively with the care team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes and quality care. Current need is twice a week. Please note, this is a part-time position with a regular schedule of two days per week. While additional shifts may occasionally be available based on clinic needs, this role is best suited for candidates seeking limited, flexible hours.

Requirements

  • Certificate of completion from an accredited cardiac ultrasound program required
  • Valid license in echocardiography from the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required
  • Registry eligible according to the ARDMS or CCI Standards required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification though an American Heart Association (AHA)- Approved source is required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment
  • AHA- approved courses include an in-person, hands-on skills check with a certified instructor using a manikin to demonstrate CPR and emergency response techniques
  • Online-only BLS courses without a live skills check do not meet this requirement
  • One year echocardiogram experience required , two years’ experience preferred
  • Experience performing echocardiography with echo machines from various manufacturers in the echo lab required
  • High school diploma/GED required; associate’s degree in cardiovascular technology preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication, detail orientation, customer service, multitasking skills
  • Excellent basic computer skills
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with

  • Registered Cardiac Congenial Sonographer (RCCS) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs exercise and pharmacological transthoracic echocardiograms and stress echo tests per department and management guidelines
  • Captures digital cardiac images and performs measurements correctly, including recognizing pathology and/or customizing exams requiring contrast agent accordingly due to lack of image quality
  • Responds to stat calls and reports life threatening pathology to attending physician
  • Prepares echocardiogram procedure, including equipment, supplies, instruments, and appropriate paperwork
  • Participates in orientation of new employees, as needed
  • Monitors quality control of equipment and escalates issues, as needed.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities that impact patient and service outcomes based on professional practice standards
