Job Description: Performs echocardiograms under the administrative supervision of the Director of Cardiovascular Services and the medical/technical supervision of the physicians who interpret echocardiograms and department Medical Director. Possesses sound knowledge of echocardiography procedures. Collaborates with all other interdisciplinary services and team members. The individual will demonstrate competency based on observation and/or demonstration for all age categories treated within the Cardiac Service’s scope of practice. The individual will abide by all hospital wide policy and procedures, for example Guest Relations, Corporate Compliance, Mandatory Yearly in-services, continuing education units and other required in-services. Performs echocardiographic examinations, pediatrics through geriatrics. Communicates with all patient care staff regarding patients. Responsible for the safe operation and daily maintenance of the echocardiogram machine. Transports patients to and from Echo Lab when necessary. Explains purpose and procedure of the echocardiogram to the patient and family members dependent upon age of the patient. Documents education. Records all pertinent information on the proper echocardiogram forms/EMR. Performs other Cardiorespiratory Care functions when necessary and individual is licensed appropriately. Participates in department CQI activities and team projects. Provides input in ways to improve processes as appropriate. Maintains CEU’s, attends department meetings/workshops, participates in Guest Relations activities.
