About The Position

Performs diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians. Responsibilities -Sets up and adjusts all cardiac imaging equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams. -Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures. -Performs routine and complex studies and assists physician in a variety of imaging procedures. -Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, and pathology and equipment limitations. -Analyzes patient’s clinical history fully (from patient, physician, and/or medical record) in order to identify the purpose of the exam, frame the clinical question(s) that the exam is intended to answer, and expands the exam as necessary to answer the clinical question & explore possible differential diagnosis/pathology if abnormality is recognized. -Adapts the exam to optimize imaging when body habitus and/or immobility present technical limitations. -Performs stress echocardiography: Uses equipment to optimally display high-resolution images. -Cleans and disinfects echo machines, Trans-thoracic probes and machine, trans-esophageal probes thoroughly between patients per infection control policy. -Follows any recommended manufacturer’s guidelines and departmental guidelines. -Tests the TEE probes after each use for integrity and leakage. -Determines which views to image during contrast injection and the timing of injection for optimal visualization according to policy and standing order clinical criteria. -Promotes patient well-being and patient rights. -Provides information about the procedure and responds to patient’s concerns and questions. -Practices according to published and recognized standards of American Society of Echocardiography or ARDMS or CCI.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months of experience in Echocardiography OR graduated from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography School or Echocardiography program containing Sonography/echocardiography experience in a clinical setting.
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography School or Echocardiography.
  • Registry Eligible and Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience in Echocardiography.
  • Sufficient education to gain RDCS certification.
  • ARDMS- RDCS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) – RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer).
