JOB SUMMARY: The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (Echocardiographer) will use ultrasound equipment that produces two-dimensional high frequency sound waves to create diagnostic images of the heart for use in cardiac diagnosis and treatment. The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (Echocardiographer) will also work with physicians/cardiologists to ensure accurate and timely interpretation of the imaging results.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of an approved course in Cardiac Sonography
Clinical experience sufficient to be eligible for registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
CPR certification
Echo Certification
Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.). All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption). Candidates for employment will be notified of this policy requirement prior to the start of employment. After receiving an offer of employment, new employees must provide proof of vaccination or request and receive an exemption before beginning work.
Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen required upon conditional job offer.

Nice To Haves

Successful completion of the Adult Cardiography registry exam with ARDMS preferred.
Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is preferred.

Responsibilities

Explains procedures to patients and assists patients in the proper positioning for the test.
Selects transducer and makes equipment adjustments according to the nature of test, depth of field, and other test specifications.
Performs the echocardiogram according to policy and procedures.
Enters test data and patient information into the computer to become part of the test record.
Prepares preliminary report.
Ensures images and report are available for interpretation.
Ensures a report is generated and available to ordering physician.
Checks equipment on a regular basis to ensure proper operation.
Will be required to perform bone dexa exams.
