Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, required
• 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred
• Certification Program in lieu of Associate Degree accepted
• Graduate from a formal Cardiovascular Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, preferred
• Two years of echocardiography experience, preferred
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer, credentials RDCS or RCS (New Graduate will have 6 months to pass registry), required
• Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
• Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient(s)' age
• Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient(s)' requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs
• Considerable verbal ability to effectively communicate observations and input to nursing staff, physicians, and other department staff.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to care for age specific needs of the population served as measured by completion of mandatory training and direct observation by supervisor.
• Performs EKGS.
• Demonstrates ability to file patient reports and assist Physicians with HIS system.
• May supervise/precept students, volunteers or new employees.
