About The Position

The Echocardiograph Tech Cert, Cardiac Sonographer position at RWJ New Brunswick involves performing a variety of invasive and non-invasive technical procedures to evaluate intra-cardiac disease, anatomy, and heart function. The role requires independent judgment and initiative in applying cardiac ultrasound testing for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. The technician will also participate in process improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining ICAEL accreditation.

Requirements

• Graduate of Cardiac Ultrasound Program, 2-D & Doppler (Two (2) year program or equivalent).
• ARDMS or CCI Certified.
• Adult CPR certification through American Heart Association.
• Proficient in operating standard Cardiac Ultrasound Systems.
• Experience in TEE and Stress Echo Procedures.

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year of hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform 2-D, M-Mode Echo, Color flow, and Pulse Doppler Studies with skill and competence.
• Function independently to achieve optimum visualization and analysis of intra-cardiac diagnostic information.
• Use enhancing agents (Definity) when appropriate during procedures.
• Ensure adherence to appropriate policies and protocols during all procedures.
• Obtain measurements and calculations on the Echo Machines for diagnostic interpretation.
• Notify Cardiologist of emergent critical values during studies.
• Master the use of the pied-off probe during echo exams.
• Perform TEE Exams and Stress Echo procedures with skill and confidence.
• Maintain accurate paperwork including patient face sheets and daily Cardiologist worksheets.
• Enter data on Echo equipment and ISCV database after each study is completed.
• Provide technical support to other staff members as needed.
• Participate in department-specific process improvement and quality initiatives.
