About The Position

The Echocardiogram Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations under general supervision. This role involves obtaining necessary images, preparing studies for interpretation by cardiologists, and assisting in various interventional procedures. The technician will also review medical records to identify significant medical histories that may impact the study and maintain equipment and documentation as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in cardiac ultrasound within the last three years.
  • Completion of an accredited two-year ARDMS/ARDCS Cardiovascular sonographer program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult Echocardiography Certification.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of ultrasound equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to maneuver ultrasound equipment which may exceed 500lbs.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • ARDMS RDCS AE certification required.
  • ARDMS RCDS PE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all echocardiogram procedures including 2D, M-Mod, Strain, 3D Quantification, color flow, and Doppler Testing.
  • Conduct Contrast Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE) and Bubble Studies (Agitated Saline).
  • Execute Exercise Stress Echocardiograms and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms with or without contrast.
  • Imaging of complex congenital heart disease requiring surgical intervention.
  • Assist in emergency bedside echo guided procedures, including pericardiocentesis.
  • Participate in clinical trials and perform specific research protocols for multiple studies.
  • Select appropriate transducer and adjust equipment controls according to depth of field.
  • Explain examination and medical procedures to patients and review physician orders.
  • Position patients to obtain desired images and manipulate equipment for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Complete department specific logs and prepare reports for interpretation by cardiologists.
  • Respond immediately to Stat requests from physicians for echocardiogram examinations.
  • Participate in on-call and weekend rotation.
