About The Position

The position involves performing echocardiograms, including two-dimensional and M-mode with color flow Doppler and Doppler echocardiography on both adult and pediatric patients. The role includes performing stress echocardiograms, pharmacological stress testing, and assisting with transesophageal echocardiograms, all under the direct supervision of an echocardiographic sonographer. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to assimilate data, perform calculations, and provide cardiac rhythm monitoring of patients, performing procedures on a diverse patient demographic ranging from infants to older adults.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Must be enrolled in the final semester of an accredited school for medical sonographers.

Responsibilities

• Perform echocardiograms, ensuring quality diagnostic scanning of patients in the Non-Invasive echo area or patient room.
• Assist in positioning patients on the echo bed and spend 80% of the procedure time on scanning.
• Demonstrate the ability to assimilate data and perform calculations for interpretation with assistance from the Echo Technician.
• Collect all data for the echo study for physician interpretation and transfer studies to the electronic storage/reading station.
• Assist the physician with transesophageal echocardiograms, operating the Echo machine and collecting pertinent data.
• Effectively perform treadmill studies under the supervision of the Technician.
• Participate in departmental and/or hospital performance improvement teams as appropriate.
