About The Position

The Cardiac Echo Lab encompasses 6 transthoracic imaging rooms, 1 stress echo room and 2 TEE rooms located on the First floor of the Ross Heart Hospital in the Cardiovascular Imaging Lab. The Echo lab is staffed 7:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday, Saturday and holidays 8:00am-1:00pm with an on-call technologist assigned for off-hour procedures. The tech develops and maintains CEU’s, registry, and skill level; Provides sonographic procedures to patients; assists in training other staff to refine imaging skills; and assists with quality assessment/improvement. The Echo sonographer performs sonographic and noninvasive imaging procedures, patient education, and quality assessment activities for the Echo Lab; Serves as a mentor to other sonographers/students to enhance quality; Assists with on-going quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives; Follows imaging protocols and maintains standards for quality; Maintains current knowledge by participation in CME courses which are relevant to echo procedures/testing (minimum 30 hours required every three years).

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Cardiac Sonography program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) registry required within 18 months of hire.
  • Maintains registry & licensing status
  • Meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements.
  • Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.

  • Previous experience in Cardiac Sonography.
