Echo Technician full time Department: 36905 Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center - Cardiovascular Diagnostics Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Varies 4 10 hour shifts days 7a to 5p , call included with weekend rotation Pay Range $34.90 - $52.35 Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Must be registered or registry-eligible in Adult Echocardiography through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), with certification obtained within one year. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Education Required: Graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of experience performing echocardiograms, OR Four years of on-the-job training and experience working as an echocardiographer. Experience Required: Educational Pathway: Completion of a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). No additional experience required. Bachelor’s Degree Pathway: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Health or Biomedical Sciences). Minimum of two years of hands-on experience performing echocardiograms. On-the-Job Training Pathway: A minimum of four years of full-time, on-the-job training and experience working as an echocardiographer. Experience must include independent performance of echocardiographic procedures and familiarity with standard protocols. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, including congenital and acquired heart conditions. Proficiency in echocardiographic techniques, including 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and color flow imaging. Understanding of ultrasound physics and equipment operation. Ability to obtain and interpret diagnostic-quality images independently. Skill in patient care and communication, including positioning and explaining procedures. Familiarity with clinical documentation standards and use of electronic medical records (EMR). Ability to follow protocols and safety procedures, including infection control. Physical ability to assist patients and stand for extended periods. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: This role requires a high level of physical activity and coordination. Team members must be capable of performing a full range of body movements, including lifting and assisting patients, as well as using fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for precise tasks. The position involves standing and walking for long periods throughout the day and occasionally lifting or carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and hearing are essential to accurately read medical information, identify symbols and alerts, and respond promptly to emergency codes and equipment alarms. The work environment can be fast-paced and demanding, with fluctuating patient volumes and time-sensitive responsibilities that may lead to periods of elevated stress.
