Shift: Mixed/Varied What you will do: Performs quality ultrasound procedures by utilizing proper positioning skills and technical factors, as well as a knowledge of anatomical structures pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics. Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations. Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images. Educates patients of exams being performed and obtains consent to perform procedure when necessary. Practices proper safety in accordance with established standards. Assesses each patient for proper preparation and scanning protocol for each ordered exam. Observes safety precautions when handling patients, while performing examinations and while patients are in direct contact. Demonstrates safety with chemicals when handling / disinfecting any equipment. Performs visual inspection daily of all equipment to ensure its safety and cleanliness. Operates 2D, M-mode, and Doppler ultrasound unit with appropriate transducers to perform and adequately ascertain the location of specific organs, with the demonstration of recorded images which reflect the appropriate calculations for accurate measurements. Demonstrates basic patient care skills. Verifies correct patient using two patient identifiers before beginning a exam.
