About The Position

Echo Tech, Cardiac Services at Javon Bea Hospital - Riverside is responsible for producing appropriate dimension ultrasonic recordings and doppler flow images of the heart and related structures for diagnostic use. Technicians operate and care for diagnostic equipment, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and participate in committees and projects as needed. The position requires flexibility in shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime to ensure quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree and/or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program, preferred.
  • Approved CPR/BLS Certification within 90 days.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Performs echocardiograms per standard imaging protocol, measures per ASE standards, providing high quality safe patient care.
  • Actively works in Adult Echo/Stress/TEE/Call Coverage which may include some pediatric.
  • Recognizes arrhythmias and takes appropriate action by notifying physician if EKG reads abnormal.
  • Assesses the quality of electrocardiographic and echocardiography recordings and corrects deficiencies.
  • Documents patient and procedural information in the patient medical record completely.
  • Educates the patient and family about the procedure and documents the process.
  • Responds appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Utilizes equipment according to established procedures and notifies coordinator/manager of equipment requiring repair.
  • Ensures inventories and medical supplies are ordered or informs appropriate staff when supplies are low.
  • Assists with the orientation of new personnel and documents on orientation record.
  • Assists with data collection for the SQI program.
  • Attends minimum 70% of department educational programs and staff meetings.
  • Provides practical instructions for students and onboarding partners.
  • Participates in department leadership team by setting positive clinical examples.
  • Actively participates in a professional council, committee, task force, or mentoring program.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
