About The Position

Responsible for performing all ultrasound procedures included, but not limited to: Abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, vascular studies (arterial & venous) & echocardiography under the direction of the Radiologist and Radiology Manager. Requirements

  • Current ARDMS Registration (multiple modalities).
  • Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire.
  • Two years of experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general diagnostic ultrasound and vascular exams and assists physicians with specialty exams.
  • Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications.
  • Explains the test to the patient.
  • Instructs and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination.
  • Assesses patient's understanding of process and informed consent.
  • Enters test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
  • Produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on computer disk, which is transferred to PACS system.
  • Assesses, evaluates, and informs physician of changes in patient's condition during the exam.
  • Discusses findings with Radiologist, calls report to referring Physician as requested.
  • Rotates on-call, weeknights, weekends, & holidays as needed.
  • Maintains accurate patient logs.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and general population.
  • Uses established techniques and implements strict infections control and safety measures.
  • Enters charges in computer for department services and transmits them to business office.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of department activities and patient flow.
  • Respects patients' rights to privacy and dignity.
  • Knows hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Cleans examination rooms, table, equipment and dispose of soiled linens.
  • Restock supplies as needed.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time and gives priority to stat requisitions.
  • Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties.
  • Schedules in- and out-patient for examinations and procedures, providing instructions for patient preparations.
  • Provides courteous and responsive communication to patients.
  • Makes copies of patient exams on CD or film as requested.
  • Inputs and/or completes charges for patient examinations in McKesson system.
  • Maintains daily log of exams.
  • Cooperates with staff to achieve department goals and prepare patients for procedures.
