About The Position

Trains to become an Echo Cardiology Technologist. Learns to perform basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedure to include 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler and 3-D LVEF Echocardiograms.

Requirements

  • 2-year Allied Health degree or Bachelor’s degree with completion of Human Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology
  • One year of employment at DH-H or 6 month with supervisor approval
  • At the end of the training period, take and pass the Adult Echocardiography exam through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

  • Prior patient facing care is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learns to perform all basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedures.
  • Learns to distinguish between normal and abnormal cardiac findings.
  • Learns to perform cardiac sonographer duties to meet departmental needs including recognizing arrhythmias and implications of specific cardiac and related diagnoses to obtain optimal studies.
  • Learn to perform adult echoes on-call.
  • Complete all course requirements and clinical rotations for the designated Adult Cardiac Ultrasound program. Maintain passing grades in all program courses including clinical competency evaluations.
  • Participates in exercise stress pharmacologic stress echo training,
  • Participates in weekly imaging conference presentation.
  • Learns to facilitate patient flow within the section and maintains a pro-active approach in dealing with patient concerns.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Learns to identify and document equipment failures.
  • Demonstrates professional behavior and comfort in a hospital setting.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
