About The Position

This full-time position is for an Echo Cardiac Technologist, working days with pediatric patients at IUHMG-M South Bend. The shift is Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm, with some flexibility, and involves no call or weekend work. The role primarily focuses on performing, administering, and monitoring Cardio-Diagnostic tests, with a strong emphasis on cardiac sonography and doppler studies. The technologist will administer all Cardio-Diagnostic tests, provide physicians with preliminary findings and necessary calculations in a timely fashion, and demonstrate the appropriate knowledge and skills to work with patients across all age groups from pediatric through geriatric. Responsibilities also include following physician's instructions, preparing and operating equipment, and correctly positioning patients to record diagnostic images, all while treating patients with care and respect.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Eligible to sit for their registry at the time of hire
  • Successfully pass registry within one year from start date through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, RDCS; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Cardiac Sonographer, RCS, Advanced Cardiac Sonographer, ACS, or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer, RCCS
  • May also require Advanced Life Support certification, if applicable
  • May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable
  • May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable
  • Pass written exam for Basic EKG interpretation with score >85% initially and repeat yearly
  • Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning
