About The Position

The Echo and Vascular Technician II at HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing high-quality echocardiography services. This position involves performing various cardiology procedures, managing patient care, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The technician is responsible for maintaining equipment, scheduling staff, and supporting clinical trials, all while contributing to a patient-centered care environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate from accredited school in Imaging Services/Echo
  • Current ARDMS or CCI Registry required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all images are of quality and documentation supports the billing of procedures
  • Manage scheduling of staff for cases in the out-patient, in-patient, surgery, structural heart and electrophysiology areas
  • Manage inventory and integrity of all scopes and equipment
  • Gather and calculate quantitative and qualitative data to aid the MD in making diagnoses
  • Ensure education to staff for clinical trial studies
  • Facilitate Echocardiography Accreditation for the facility
  • Ensure policy and procedures are accurate and consistent with regulatory standards
  • Demonstrate competency in pulse characteristics, pulse repetition frequency, pulse repetition period, and spatial pulse length
  • Demonstrate competency in technical factors for diagnostic quality images, focal zone, depth, amplitude dynamic range and compression, analog-to-digital converter (ADC), digital-to-analog converter (DAC), brightness, contrast
  • Demonstrate competency in various display modes, Real Time imaging, and echogenicity of reflectors, echo textures, and artifacts
  • Manage department functions including billing/charging/payroll and Kronos time
  • Demonstrate accuracy in Meditech training by sending work requests and printing reports
  • Demonstrate competency with critical behaviors and age-specific care
  • Ensure appropriate equipment disinfection between patients
